From a young age I loved to tinker, using as many different materials and techniques as possible, with a preference for small detailed objects. It’s been that way my whole life.
In 1990 I came into contact with bookbinding and all the techniques and materials I had tried in my life, bookbinding turned out to be ‘IT’ for me. Everything fell into place. As with reading a book you can completely relax, bookbinding, working on miniature books, has the same effect for me.
Creating miniature books, figuring out which subject you want to publish, choosing material, working in the right proportions and scale, inventing miniature tools, delving into lithography and offset printing and using traditional bookbinding techniques makes working on miniature books a challenge and very interesting.
I also really like to pass on my bookbinding knowledge and expertise to miniaturists and book lovers, at fairs during demonstrations and giving workshops and recently online courses.
